DORCHESTER — Hundreds of well-wishers and mourners lined the streets of Dorchester near St. Ann’s church in Neponset for a touching farewell to Jimmy Hayes, a local native and former pro hockey player who died unexpectedly recently. He was 31.
Although the actual funeral Mass was for immediate family only, the area outside the church to Florian Hall was lined with Dorchester residents, participants in the local youth hockey program, Jimmy’s friends from his days at Boston College, and others.
