STURBRIDGE — The 2018 Ken Burns Lifetime Achievement Award was given to “This Old House” host Norm Abram at a sold-out dinner at the Oliver Wight Tavern at Old Sturbridge Village.
The award is given annually to “an individual who has made a significant impact on the arts through a project that is relevant to the history Old Sturbridge Village works to preserve.” This year’s award was given to master carpenter and author Norm Abram. Previous recipients include TV newsman Tom Brokaw, Academy Award winner John Williams, and national political reporter Cokie Roberts.
Burns, who presented Abram with the award, creates Sturbridge Village with starting his career. Burns made his first documentary at the historic site when he was a student at Hampshire College.
