SEAPORT — More than 1,600 guests attended the 10th annual Celebration of the Priesthood dinner, which was held at the World Trade Center Boston. Mark Wahlberg was the main speaker and talked about his friend and mentor Father Jim Flavin.
The sold-out dinner, which raises money for the Archdiocese’s Clergy Health and Retirement Trust, was hosted by Cathy and John G. White. As Bill Brett was leaving the hall an anonymous donor offered a $50,000 donation that brought the night’s total to $1.85 million. Wahlberg, who joked that he was not anonymous, would give an additional $50,000, bringing the total to $1.9 million.
