DORCHESTER — Steve MacDonald may have thought he was showing up at Florian Hall for a TV interview, but the Boston Fire Department spokesman was actually surprised by Commissioner Joe Finn and about a 100 friends gathered to wish MacDonald well on his retirement from the department.
MacDonald, the spokesman for the Boston Fire Department, has more than 31 years with the department. Among those on-hand to greet him were Mayor Marty Walsh, members of Boston firefighters Local 718, his family, and a gaggle of media, including several TV crews.
