BOSTON — We’re reposting some images from the July 27, 2017 event to benefit “Christmas in the City.” Some 150 guests attended Christmas in the City in July at the Seaport Hotel, all proceeds will go to 100 percent volunteer-run Christmas in the City. Photos by Bill Brett.

FLORIDA — My friend Brian Purcell, who retired from the Boston Fire Department about 10 years ago, died recently in Florida. A decorated member of the BFD, Brian spent most of his career with Engine 42 in Roxbury. He later was an aide to the District 3 chief. Arrangements are being made by John J.
