DORCHESTER — A festive and celebratory gathering took place Saturday, November 26, to officially recognize the Irish Pastoral Centre’s new location at 540 Gallivan Blvd in Adams Village in Dorchester. Special guest Martin J. Walsh, US Secretary of Labor and former mayor of Boston, offered a few remarks to mark the occasion.
The new space will allow the IPC to better serve the local Irish diaspora with more programs in an accessible environment. Friends and community members enjoyed shepard’s pie and beef stew as they mingled in the new digs.
Among those on hand were: Irish Vice Consul General Shane Caffrey; Kevin McBride, Irish former professional boxer; several Bretts Maryellen Brett (chair of the Irish Pastoral Centre board), Harry Brett, Jim Brett, Peg McCobb, and Bill Brett; Boston City Council President Edward Flynn; and Boston City Councilor at-Large Erin Murphy.
