Town of Hingham moves to buy municipal water system

Hingham — More than 3,000 Hingham voters packed Hingham High School the other day with some 1,800 voting to authorize the town’s Board of Selectmen to purchase the town’s municipal water system, which was operated by Aquarion, a privately operated subsidiary of Eversource.

The $114 million purchase will put the water system under public ownership for the first time in 140 years, according to The Patriot Ledger. For more details, see the Ledger story, here.
