COPLEY SQUARE — More than 350 guests attended the Ellie Fund’s 24th annual gala and Academy Award viewing party, which was held at the Fairmont Copley Plaza hotel. The gala, which was held on Sunday, February 9, raised more than $150,000 to benefit the Ellie Fund’s mission to provide essential support services for breast cancer patients to ease the stresses of everyday life, allowing the focus to be on family, recovery and healing.
Members of our WCVB NewsCenter 5 and “Chronicle” teams spent Sunday night with the Ellie Fund, raising money to provide essential support services for breast cancer patients to ease the stresses of everyday life, allowing the focus to be on family, recovery and healing. The Rose Award was presented to Jessica Leip, Ellie Fund patient and advocate.
Members of the WCVB team including Rhondella Richardson, Shayna Seymour and Erika Tarantal were joined by Billy Costa (Kiss 108, “Dining Playbook”) for the hosting duties.
Through its Healing Together Patient and Family Care Program and Metastatic Breast Cancer Support Program, the Ellie Fund provides nutritional and grocery assistance, transportation to medical appointments, childcare assistance, light housekeeping, prepared/delivered meals and integrative therapy free of charge to more than 800 breast cancer patients and their families each year.
