Boston 4th of July

THIS IS RE-POSTED FROM JULY 6, 2017

This Fourth of July marked Bill Brett‘s 44th time photographing the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular and he was joined for the assignment by our colleague Sean Goss. This gallery, one of the first we’re posting on Bill’s recently revamped website, includes more than 40 images taken by both photographers.

Conductor Keith Lockhart led the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra through a two-and-a-half hour concert that included a number of crowd favorites (“Stars and Strips Forever” and “1812 Overture”) with a variety of new songs performed by headliners Melissa Etheridge, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Leslie Odom Jr., and Andy Grammer.

An estimated 500,000 people, who lined both sides of the Charles River saw the fireworks display live. The concert and fireworks, which were sponsored by Eaton Vance, was broadcast on Bloomberg.
