HULL — More than 250 people braved the icy waters of Nantasket Beach in Hull to raise more than $100,000 for Special Olympics Massachusetts. HINGHAM — 100 guests attended The Lead Out Foundation’s fundraiser on February 12, 2022 at the Wine Room at Tosca restaurant. The organization offers assistance to those living with Spina Bifida or have had a recent spinal cord injury. The event raised $10,000 that will be given out as grants to be used for medical equipment not covered by insurance and bathroom modifications to allow individuals greater independence. COPLEY SQUARE — 1,000 guests attended the Corey C. Griffin Foundation’s 14th annual Winter Ball, which was held at the Fairmont Copley Plaza hotel. The black-tie event raised more than $2 million for charities that support Boston-area children through strategic partnerships with the city’s leading educational and healthcare institutions, with an emphasis on faith-based initiatives. DORCHESTER — The Irish Pastoral Center in Dorchester hosted a candlelight vigil to honor the life of Ashling Murphy, a 23-year-old woman who was murdered in Tullamore, Co. Offaly, Ireland. The vigil was held in the parking area behind Greenhills Bakery in Adams Corner on Sunday, January 16, 2022, because Ashling’s sister Amy worked at the bakery and the sisters are well known in the neighborhood.
