MEDFORD — Hundreds of well-wishers and employees turned out recently as Century Bank celebrated its 50th anniversary.
Of course, the one person missing from the special celebration was the bank’s founder, Marshall Sloane, who died on April 6, 2019 at age 92. Marshall and his family, who continue to run the bank, are featured in Bill Brett’s forthcoming book “Boston: Game Changers.”
Despite the loss of Century’s beloved founder, the 50th anniversary celebration had a decidedly upbeat tone and was emceed by Marshall’s son Barry R. Sloane and daughter Linda Sloane Kay, who continue the family’s management of the bank, which now has some 28 branches.
