THEATER DISTRICT — Nearly 1,000 guests attended the 12th annual Teamsters Local 25 Autism Gala at the Boch Center Wang Theatre on Saturday, March 23, 2019. The event, which was emceed by WBZ-TV news anchor David Wade, raised more than $1 million for area nonprofit organizations that support people with autism and developmental delays.
“We’re proud of the contributions Teamsters Local 25 has been able to make within the autism community these last 12 years,” said Teamsters Local 25 president Sean O’Brien. “We’ve helped to pass insurance legislation, raise crucial funds for research and awareness, and hopefully give families with autism hope and reassurance that they aren’t alone.”
Guests included Governor Charlie Baker and his wife, Lauren, and the evening’s honorees: Larry Cancro, Red Sox senior vice president/Fenway Concerts and Entertainment, and Massachusetts House Speaker Robert DeLeo. The night also featured performances by the Boston Higashi School Jazz Band, an ensemble of students on the autism spectrum, and the Greater Boston Firefighters Pipes and Drum Band.
