SOUTH END — Bill Brett was out on the town recently (as he is most nights) and took this photograph of the construction near Washington and Herald streets. The construction continues in the area that used to the site of the Boston Herald.

Avenue near Washington Street the other night at dusk when he took this photograph of the old Alexandra Hotel, a gothic style building that people have watched for years wondering how it will be redeveloped.
