SOUTH BOSTON — The Greater Boston Firefighters Pipes and Drums celebration the other night in South Boston was (happily) interrupted by their Halifax counterparts, who just showed up and played a few tunes. Our Bill Brett was on hand to photograph the events.

PHOTO BY BILL BRETT This parking space in South Boston would rent or sell for a premium, but when Bill was passing by it was just a bicycle taking up a whole spot. Places to park your car are scarce throughout the city, but particularly in South Boston. The city council is debating having residents pay for the parking permits that city residents use to park in their neighborhood.
SOUTH BOSTON — Several hundred guests attended the Gavin House Foundation’s spring Road to Recovery event, which was held on May 9, 2019 at the Innovation and Design Building in South Boston. The Foundation supports the Gavin House, a nonprofit agency that provides comprehensive adult, youth and community substance abuse education, prevention and treatment programs. Established in South Boston in 1963, Gavin House now serves more than 5,000 individuals each year from Massachusetts and beyond.…
SOUTH BOSTON — 500 guests attended the 17th annual “Taste of South Boston” to benefit the South Boston Neighborhood Development Corporation.
