FENWAY — A steady stream of well-wishers made their way to Fenway Park the other night to celebrate the release of Boston Marathon race director Dave McGillivray’s new book, “Running Across America.” The children’s book tells young readers (and others, too) about perseverance, something McGillivray lived on his historic run. SCITUATE — Some 500 guests attended the “Recovery Rocks — An Evening of Recovery” event in support of the South Shore Peer Recovery. The event, held outdoors at Bulman Marine in Scituate on August 22, 2019, raised $215,000. The night’s emcee was Jim Fagan, who welcomed two bands — The Danny Lynch Band and Border Road. Carol Sasso, who is in recovery talked about her journey and the programs offered by South Shore Peer Recovery.…
FRANKLIN PARK — 2,500 guests attended the 10th annual Brew at the Zoo, which was held on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at the Franklin Park Zoo. Money raised from the event supports the operation and continued growth of Zoo New England, its education programs and conservation initiatives. All photos by Bill Brett

SOUTH BOSTON — The Greater Boston Firefighters Pipes and Drums celebration the other night in South Boston was (happily) interrupted by their Halifax counterparts, who just showed up and played a few tunes. Our Bill Brett was on hand to photograph the events.
