My friend William F. Smith, III, who died suddenly on July 9, 2017 while he was in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Billy, as he was called, was a member of the Boston Police Department’s Firearms Unit. He worked with police officers from throughout the city.
The outpouring of affection for Billy can be seen in these photos that I took the other day at his wake, which was held at the John J. O’Connor & Son Funeral Home in Dorchester. The funeral Mass was said on Saturday morning at St. Brendan Church in Dorchester.
