DORCHESTER — It was a packed house at Boston College High School when the announcement was made that the Cadigan Family Foundation will be donating $49 million to build a wellness facility at the all-male school on Morrissey Boulevard.
The philanthropic foundation created in 2002 by Patrick Cadigan, the former CEO of Electronic Engineering Co. in California and a 1952 graduate of the Jesuit high school. Mr. Cadigan died in April 2020. He was 85 years old. Mr. Cadigan was featured in Bill Brett’s fifth book, “Boston: Irish.”
It was the second $40-million-plus donation the Cadigan Family Foundation has made in just two months, according to the Orange County Register.
The donation will be used to build a 50,000-square-foot Wellness Complex on the high school campus, which is near the UMass Boston campus.
