HINGHAM — A couple dozen customers of Ellen Landers, who opened the Atlantic Bagel & Coffee shop in Hingham every morning for more than 20 years, out to dinner to celebrate Landers’ retirement. Lucca’s in Rockland Landers was joined by her daughter Jamie at the night out at Lucca’s in Rockland. Landers arrived at 3:30 in the morning to get ready for the daily rush of customers. QUINCY — South Shore Conservatory celebrated marked the start of its 50th anniversary celebration at its Chase Away the Winter Blues gala, which was held on January 25, 2020 at the Boston Quincy Marriott. BOSTON — More than 500 guests turned out Saturday night for the surprise 65th birthday party for Jake Kennedy, who with his wife, Sparky, founded the annual Christmas in the City. Saturday’s party was held at the Seaport Hotel. The night also served as a fundraiser for the Jake Kennedy ALS Fund, which has a goal of raising $1 million for ALS research. BOSTON — More than 500 attendees packed Faneuil Hall for the 10th annual “Launch Day,” when Eighth Grade students from each of the 351 cities and towns in the state set out to volunteer for service projects in their communities.
