BRIGHTON — When Eric T. Donovan was sworn in on Aug. 17 as clerk magistrate of Brighton Division of Boston Municipal Court, he had a few familiar faces there to cheer him on — his classmates from Westfield State College. Joining Donovan were Jack Doherty, Boston Police Department Superintendent in Chief Greg Long, Matt Savage, Ray Salmon, and Dave Gera. SOUTH BOSTON — Great news from the chairman is that on Sept. 9, veterans from the region will gather at Medal of Honor Park in South Boston when the annual ceremony at the South Boston Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial will be dedicated to Senator John McCain, who died on Aug. 25. South Boston native and longtime veterans advocate Tom Lyons, chairman of the veterans memorial, spoke to the Boston Globe about McCain’s importance to veterans everywhere.…
DORCHESTER — This year’s “Save the Beach” Friends of Savin Hill Shores Dorchester Beach Day at Malibu Beach was held on Saturday, Aug. 25. The Boston Circus Guild provided activities and entertainment at the free Life’s A Beach Festivals, featuring trapeze artists, acrobats and jugglers, as well Save the Harbors troupe of costumed storytellers.
