QUINCY — Big hats, bow ties, and bourbon was the fundraising theme at the Quincy Rotary’s Kentucky Derby party. The sold-out fundraiser was held at the Neighborhood Club in Quincy. Money raised is directed back to the local community to support educational scholarships to Quincy’s high school seniors. SOUTH BOSTON — 300 people signed up for the Brain Aneurysm Foundation’s Run/Walk, which was held at DCR Castle Island. Many brain aneurysm survivors participated to support the Foundation’s work and were joined by family members and those walking and running in memory of someone lost to this disease which affects 1 in every 50 people in the US. SEAPORT — More than 150 guests attended the Eire Society of Boston’s 86th anniversary Gold Medal Dinner at which the Society honored Boston Globe columnist Kevin Cullen. Cullen is the former Dublin bureau chief covering Northern Ireland, for more than 25 years, and was the only full-time reporter for an American newspaper based in Ireland during the peace process that culminated the Good Friday Agreement.
