SOUTH BOSTON — The 8th annual Boston Irish Honors recognized the Kennedy family of Dorchester (Bill, Annmarie and Nora), former Massachusetts Highway Commissioner Tom Tinlin of South Boston, and the Boston Globe’s Kevin Cullen before a packed house at the Seaport Hotel. The event, held annually by the Boston Irish Reporter, which is marking its 27th anniversary, was chaired by Aidan Browne of Sullivan & Worcester. BROOKLINE — 200 guests attended the 35th anniversary gala on Oct. 11, 2017 to raise money for Empower Success Corps, which honored The Boston Globe. Among those in attendance were Globe Editor Brian McGrory, Empower Success Executive Director Julie Crockford, ESC Board Chair Ashok Boghani, and the event co-chairs Francine Achbar and Linda Vacovec. [UPDATED] SOUTH END/ROXBURY — Bill Brett was stopped along Mass. Avenue near Washington Street the other night at dusk when he took this photograph of the old Alexandra Hotel, a gothic style building that people have watched for years wondering how it will be redeveloped.
