The evening honored James Carmody, former general manager of the Seaport Boston hotel. The event’s emcee was Matt Noyes, chief meteorologist of NBC Boston and NECN. BOSTON — More than 1,800 guests attended the 8th annual Corey Fest hosted by the Corey C. Griffin Foundation that raised $1.8 million for Boston charities that support the guiding principles of the foundation: To improve of primarily Boston-area children through strategic partnerships with the city’s leading educational and healthcare institutions, with an emphasis on faith-based initiatives. SOUTH END — More than 450 guests attended the 11th annual “Medicine That Matters” Gala in support of Boston Health Care for the Homeless at the SoWa Power Station in the South End. The gala, which raised $2 million, honored Jack Connors and the RIZE Massachusetts Foundation, the only public-private partnership solely dedicated to funding solutions to end the opioid overdose crisis.
