BOSTON — More than 350 guests attended the 22nd annual Oscar Night Red Carpet Gala, which was sponsored by WCVB-TV (Channel 5) which aired the Academy Award broadcast. Held at the Fairmont Copley Plaza hotel, the swanky party raised money to benefit the Ellie Fund, which provides support and services to those faced with breast cancer. QUINCY — The Saint Rock Haiti Foundation held its annual fundraising event at the Granite Links Golf Club on March 1, 2018. The Milton-based non-profit supports programs in Saint Rock, Haiti, such as funding schools and education efforts, providing medical care, working to ensure access to clean water, and securing micro-loans. DEDHAM — The Dedham Police Department joined the non-profit Cops for Kids With Cancer at the Kings Dining and Entertainment at Legacy Place in Dedham for a fundraiser to help out families with children with cancer. SOUTH BOSTON — More than 700 guests attended the 3rd annual Friends of Donny Higgins Memorial Fund Winter Gala held at The Westin Boston Waterfront Grand Ballroom. HULL — 250 people took a polar plunge on Feb. 24, 2018 at Nantasket Beach in Hull to support the programs of Special Olympics. It was bit warmer than the sub-zero temperatures for the annual L Street Brownies faced on Jan. 1 in Boston. BUT it all is for a good cause and there were a lot of people pushing through to get in and out of the water. All photos by Bill Brett.
