News out of BPD: Bill Evans to retire; Gross named commissioner

BOSTON — Watching the live press conference of Boston Police Department announcements of the retirement of Bill Evans and Mayor Marty Walsh’s appointment of William G. Gross as the new commissioner. I couldn’t be more thrilled. Gross, as he said in the press conference, is a true street cop who started on the streets in Dorchester. Our city is lucky to have all three of these men. — Bill
