Massachusetts Biotechnology Council holds annual meeting, celebrates Jimmy Fund 70th

CAMBRIDGE — The Massachusetts Biotechnology Council hosted its annual two-day annual meeting at which the organization marked the 70th anniversary of the Jimmy Fund at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The two-day event also brought the elevation of a new board as well as the latest industry’s trends.

MassBio CEO and President Robert Coughlin emceed the morning’s events including thanking outgoing board chair Abbie Celniker of Third Rock Ventures and the welcoming incoming chair David L. Lucchino of Frequency Therapeutics as the new chair. In his remarks, Lucchino noted that he is committed to building on Celniker’s initiatives, particularly those related to getting more women into leadership positions and outreach to the region’s urban neighborhoods and schools.

At the panel to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Jimmy Fund, David Lucchino was joined by Caeleigh Brown, a Jimmy Fund patient; her doctor, Dr. Stephen Sallan, Quick Family Chair, Pediatric Oncology, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute; Dr. Laurie Glimcher, President & CEO, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute; and
Larry Lucchino, Boston Red Sox President/CEO Emeritus and Chairman of the Board, Jimmy Fund, who also is David’s uncle.
