Boston’s inimitable Smoki Bacon has died

REPORT: Smoki Bacon, a well-known part of and reporter on Boston’s social scene, has died. Smoki marked her 90th birthday with a party at her daughter’s Beacon Hill home in 2018, where Bill Brett took these photographs.

Among those who turned out were Marvin Gilmore, who marked his 90th birthday a few years ago.

Smoki and her husband Dick Concannon are well-known to so many through their TV show “The Literati Scene,” airing on Boston’s cable channel and more than a dozen other local channels in Eastern Massachusetts.

Hundreds turn out to celebrate Smoki Bacon’s 90th birthday

BEACON HILL — Some 300 guests turned out to celebrate the life of Smoki Bacon, a well-known part of and reporter on Boston’s social scene. Smoki marked her 90th birthday with a party at her daughter’s Beacon Hill home last weekend.

Among those who turned out were Marvin Gilmore, who marked his 90th birthday a few years ago.
