COLUMBIA POINT — The community came together on Thursday morning for a groundbreaking ceremony for the new $70 million, 75,000-square-foot recreational facility on Mt. Vernon Street in Dorchester’s Columbia Point called Fieldhouse+. The project is being built throught a partnership among the Martin Richard Foundation, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dorchester, and the city of Boston. At the event, which drew a slew of local and national politicians, got a boost from Gov. Maura Healey, with a surprise announcement of a new $12 million commitment, which brings the fundraising total to $55 million. Fieldhouse+ will include indoor athletic fields, a walking track, fitness and training rooms, classroom space, and a theater.
