Friends of the Duxbury Council on Aging holds golf tourney to support programs

DUXBURY — Anne Antonellis and Chris Barry, co-chairs of the Friends of the Duxbury Council on Aging’s 20th annual golf tournament, announced that more than $50,000 was raised at the event that was held on Monday, September 20, at the Duxbury Yacht Club. The picture-perfect day on the links was followed by a dinner and live and silent auctions at the Senior Center.

Money raised through this annual event, along with funds from other events sponsored by the Friends, provides support for the programs and services at the Senior Center that enrich the lives of older adults in Duxbury, including Lifelong Learning, home-delivered meals, transportation, education and arts programs, and a Social Day program for those living with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers.

Key to the success of the 20th year of this tournament goes to all of the sponsors, including Welch Senior Living, John and Kathy Stanton, Rockland Trust, as well as 14 event sponsors and more than 50 hole sponsors that included many local businesses and families. Some 90 golfers and volunteers also participated. Jim Fagan, was the event’s emcee.
