Elizabeth Akeley and George Regan marry at stunning Cape ceremony

OSTERVILLE — 400 guests gathered to celebrate George Regan and Elizabeth Akeley as the couple exchanged vows on Saturday, July 30, 2022. The wedding ceremony was officated by Governor Charlie Baker (with two best men and three maids of honor) at Bill Koch’s Nauticus Marina in Osterville on Cape Cod. The groom is a well-known Boston public relations guru.

The bridal party arrived on board the picturesque S.S. Lollipop, compliments of John Fish. The bridal party included the bride’s sisters — Joey Beardsley, Leah Akeley, Shauni Medeiros — and best men, the groom’s friends, David Southworth and Bill Bratton. There were two flower girls, the bride’s nieces Violet Beardsley and Lucy Akeley, who walked in to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and George’s shiatzu dog, Levi Jean, was the ring bearer. Serving as ushers were: Marty Meehan, Rodney Collins, Scott Carline, Ken Chandler, Chuck Wilson, Tim Akeley, and Willie Gross.

The bride walked down the aisle with her father, Mark Akeley, to “Here Comes the Sun” and the couple recessed down the aisle to “Oh Happy Day” sung by gospel choir The Celebration Singers. Two US Marines hoisted an American flag that flew over the US Capitol on July 18th in memory of George’s late parents Ann and George Sr. The flag was a gift of US Senator Ed Markey.

The wedding flowers were done by The Salty Florist, Falmouth, with food from Casual Gourmet in Centerville. Chatham Valet carted guests to the gorgeous grounds where they settled in with a choir performance ahead of the ceremony starting.
