Children’s Action Corps honors several for their work with young people

BOSTON — More than 400 guests attended the Children’s Action Corps’ “Embracing the Legacy’’ event at the JFK Presidential Library and Museum on May 10, 2019. Robert F. Kennedy children’s Action Corps is a national leader in developing and implementing child welfare, social service, and juvenile justice programs.

Congressman Joe Kennedy III, who serves as a board member and was a co-chair of the event, was on hand to recognize this year’s honorees. Former WCVB-TV NewsCenter 5 anchor Susan Wornick was the event’s emcee.

Among the honorees were Robert A. Scannell Jr., president and CEO of the Boys & Girls Club Dorchester and his wife, Mary Kinsella Scannell, vice president of the Boys & Girls Club Dorchester; Darrell Crate, founder and managing principal of Easterly Capital; and Andrea Perry, who accepted the award on behalf of her late husband, Paul Lewis, who was director of training at the Stoneham-based North American Family Institute, and Paul’s brother Robert Lewis Jr., founder and president of The BASE.
