Annual St. Patrick’s Day breakfast in support to Mary Ann Brett Food Pantry this Saturday

DORCHESTER — The annual St. Patrick’s Day weekend breakfast that is held to raise money for the Mary Ann Brett Food Pantry will be held on Saturday, March 18, at 10 a.m. in the parish hall of the old St. Margaret’s Church (St. Mother Teresa Parish) in Dorchester. The lively annual breakfast takes place right next to the actual food pantry and raises more than $100,000 annually to support the local community.

If the name seems familiar, it is not a coincidence. The food pantry is named for Mary Ann Brett, mother of Bill and his siblings, Harry, Peggy, Jim, and the late Jack and Mary. The family and so many friends and neighbors with connections to the church and the neighborhood work together to support the annual gathering and the food pantry.

New England Council President and CEO Jim Brett leads the event and longtime supporter WBZ NightSide host Dan Rea will serve as emcee.

The portrait of Mary Ann Brett was taken when she was 24 years old and had emigrated from Co. Sligo in Ireland.
