FENWAY — A sold out crowd of 1,800 packed the House of Blues to hear country star Jake Owen rock out with Austin Williams as opener for the annual CoreyFest, which raises money for the Corey C. Griffin Foundation. In the 10 years since its founding, the Foundation has raised $40 million to support Boston charities that help the city’s youth. Also announced was that the Foundation will award ten $10,000 scholarships.
The charitable Foundation was started following the tragic passing of Corey C. Griffin on Aug. 16, 2014 by the the Griffin family and close friends. The mission is to improve the lives of primarily Boston-area children through strategic partnerships with the city’s leading educational and healthcare institutions, with an emphasis on faith-based initiatives.
