SOUTH BOSTON — Bill Brett spotted the work being done as part of Phase III of the work at the Old Colony Housing Project in South Boston.
Located between Dorchester and Mercer streets in South Boston, the remaining housing — eight existing residential buildings comprised of 250 units — are being torn down and replaced with approximately 301 residential units in four sustainably-designed four-story buildings with direct-entry apartments on the first level.
The city approved the initial 135 units of Phase III to proceed in 2018. Phases I and II, which include 285 units and a community learning center, were fully constructed and re-occupied by Old Colony residents. The Master Plan contemplated future phases in order to complete the redevelopment of the Old Colony community. For more, see the city’s website here.
